A crown is a fixed, permanent restoration that is used to improve the strength and appearance of a damaged tooth.
Crowns are often referred to as “caps” or “shells” and can be made of a variety of materials including:
• metal alloys.
The choice of material used very much depends on the clinical situation.
There are both NHS and Private options available. A crown usually requires 2 separate appointments – one to prepare the tooth and take impressions, and one to cement the crown in place.
